By: Natalia Finnis-Smart
The coveted Met Gala, where art and fashion innovatively collide, made its return on September 13th after a year-long delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Coined as ‘fashion’s biggest night out,’ The Met Gala as a paradoxically intimate affair showcases invitees’ interpretations of the night’s respective theme for the world to witness.

This year’s theme? In America: A Lexicon of Fashion. Within this concept, invitees set the tone in embodying bona fide American style intertwined with references to history, culture, and ingenuity. Creativity and meticulous craftmanship as each design enters the room, making its presence known.
Monday evening’s co-chairs consisted of Amanda Gorman, Billie Eilish, Naomi Osaka, and Timothée Chalamet. Host Keke Palmer documented the night’s opening festivities, interviewing Met-goers about their respective looks during a live stream through Vogue Magazine’s Twitter account. Occasional panoramas to guests making their entrances on The Met Gala steps could be observed with paparazzi’s vocalized signals attempting to capture every angle, camera lights in constant motion.
As an ode to ‘the first Monday in May,’ here are thirty of the night’s best looks that stole the show.
