Squid Game’s HoYeon Jung’s Best Runway Looks
By: Valeria Ramos
Before she was avoiding death on Squid Game, HoYeon Jung was gracing the runways of Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Bottega Veneta, and more. She began her career as a freelance model in 2010, walking in Seoul Fashion Week shows for two years. In 2013, she competed on the fourth season of Korea’s Next Top Model and placed as a runner-up, landing a cover of Vogue’s Korean edition. She became known for her “fiery” red hair after making her international runway debut for Opening Ceremony during New York Fashion Week. She was a Louis Vuitton exclusive in 2016 and became a global ambassador for the brand in 2021.
The constant traveling and loneliness that comes with modeling eventually led Jung to pursue acting. “I relieved my loneliness with movies and books, and I had a strong desire to express what I felt through acting. So during the holiday season, I came to Korea and took acting classes,” she told W Magazine.
Since making her television debut, the 27-year-old model-turned actress has skyrocketed into fame. Considering Squid Game was her first audition, Jung never imagined the series would become wildly popular. “I was just so happy that I got a role and could give a performance,” she said in an interview with Vogue. “I still feel nervous at the thought of meeting an audience through the screen. I never dreamed that the show would become such a global sensation.”
To celebrate the beginning of a new chapter in Jung’s career, we’re taking a look back at some of her best runway moments.
