Rihanna’s Luxury Fashion House is Finally Here

In January, rumors swirled of a new venture for Rihanna – her very own luxury fashion house in partnership with industry conglomerate LVMH. Yesterday, LVMH confirmed their deal with Rihanna and revealed that some of the products from the Fenty Maison are to be revealed in the coming weeks.
It was through her role in creating Fenty Beauty that Bernard Arnault, chairman, and C.E.O of LVMH, saw a potential for a successful fashion house. “Everybody knows Rihanna as a wonderful singer, but through our partnership at Fenty Beauty, I discovered a true entrepreneur, a real C.E.O, and a terrific leader,” Arnault said.
This partnership not only marks a significant accomplishment in Rihanna’s career but for the LVMH group as well. Rihanna will become the first woman and first woman of color to create an original brand at LVMH. Her line will be the first new fashion house created by LVMH since Christian Lacroix in 1987.
The Fenty brand will be based in Paris and is reported to include ready-to-wear, shoes, and accessories.
“Designing a line like this with LVMH is an incredibly special moment for us,” Rihanna said. “Mr. Arnault has given me a unique opportunity to develop a fashion house in the luxury sector with no artistic limits. I couldn’t imagine a better partner both creatively and business-wise, and I’m ready for the world to see what we have built together.”
Having already found success working with LVMH for Fenty Beauty, it is not hard to see why Arnault and the company see great potential in a Rihanna-led fashion house. After all, Fenty Beauty reportedly brought in $562 million in its first year alone.
Fenty Beauty disrupted the cosmetic industry’s status quo through the creation of a wider range of foundation shades and a keen social media marketing strategy. This inclusivity was also highlighted in Rihanna’s lingerie brand, Savage x Fenty, with products available in a color and size for everyone.
