You might have seen their names trending on Twitter, slaying red carpets, or caught yourself humming to one of their tunes on the radio. One thing is for sure, BTS is continuing to dominate the world and become one of the most prominent artists in the music industry.
In case you haven’t heard of them yet, BTS is a seven-man band from South Korea. The group includes RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. Together they are dominating the music industry, the internet, and inspiring millions of fans. Here’s how BTS is breaking records, setting fashion trends, and doing their part in ending violence.
BTS are no strangers to breaking records. One of their recent milestones was becoming the first group since the Beatles to have three No. 1 albums in a year. They made Youtube history by having the most-watched video in 24 hours with their “Boy With Luv” music video.
Plus, they sold out stadiums for their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself world tour in 2019. Together the group grossed $116.6 million and sold 976,283 tickets. They played shows in North America, Asia, Europe, and even South America.
For BTS music, and fashion goes hand and hand. As they stated in their Billboard 2018 interview, “Music and fashion are inseparable.” They aren’t afraid of creating one-of-a-kind looks that complement their music, message, and personal style.
They are wearing brands like Gucci, Supreme, Dior, Saint Laurent, and Mastermind, to name a few. Reportedly, BTS doesn’t accept sponsorship with luxury brands. They choose what brands they want to wear.
The group is also supporting and showcasing to the world some of Korea’s fashion designers. In 2019, they walked the Grammy red carpet in custom suits from JayBaek Couture and Kim Seo Ryong.
Not only are they inspiring fans through music, but also with their work with nonprofits. BTS are partners with UNICEF in an anti-violence campaign called the “Love Myself Campaign.” This project promotes the importance of ending violence by sharing love and kindness.
It has inspired many people around the globe and successfully raised over $1.4 million. In 2018, BTS gave a speech about empowerment and love in front of the United Nations. The leader of the group, RM, stated, “Tell me your story. I want to hear your voice, and I want to hear your conviction. No matter who you are, where you’re from, your skin color, gender identity: speak yourself.”
On top of their ongoing work as a group, individual members have also given back to communities. They have donated to children’s medical funds, schools, education programs, and other causes. In return, it has inspired fans to donate to multiple causes in their name and start projects.
The future is bright for BTS. Let’s see how they continue to dominate.
