In Down To Earth, a new Netflix docuseries, Zac Efron journeys around the world with wellness expert Darin Olien in a travel show that explores healthy, sustainable ways to live.
The trailer, which came out on June 26th, shows the actor visiting different countries like Puerto Rico, France or Iceland, in an attempt to discover what’s making a difference for our planet.
“We’re traveling around the world to find some new perspectives on some very old problems,” Efron says. “Food, water, and energy are all the main staples for modern life. We’re going to meet some top eco-innovators to see how change is an inside job.”
In Down To Earth, the viewer, along with Efron, will learn alternative ways to get food, water, and energy from the top innovators fighting against climate change all around the world.
Zac Efron has been vocal about the importance of finding sustainable ways before. For Earth Day, Efron was part of The Great Global Clean-Up and has been using social media to highlight environmental and social issues, which has gained him praise for not letting his celebrity image intervene with the process of educating himself and others.
But why is sustainability important? The reason is very simple: we can’t expect to maintain the quality as we know it nowadays and earth ecosystems unless we embrace a more sustainable way of living. Seeing how other people and health experts carry out actions that benefit the environment might inspire the viewers to implement their own measures at home.
The goal of season one of Down To Earth can be summed up in Efron’s words: “We need to start rethinking how we consume everything, from our food to our power. Change has to start somewhere.” The series will be streaming on Netflix from July 10th.
