5 Winter Skincare Essentials
By: Valeria Ramos
It’s that time of year again when the air gets cold, our windows get frosty, and our skin gets dry. Taking care of your skin in the winter is extremely important if you want to maintain a healthy, dewy glow all year round. It is during the winter season that our normal skincare routines no longer cut it. Colder air means our skin requires more moisture and care than ever before. Here are a couple of easy ways to keep your skin looking radiant and fresh all winter long!

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize
Ensuring your skin receives enough moisture during the winter season is the key to avoiding dry, flaky skin. This not only means you should amp up your dosage of daily moisturizer, but stay hydrated by drinking enough water throughout the day as well.
Avoid Over-Exfoliating
They say too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. Well, when it comes to exfoliating your skin, this is true. Over-exfoliating the skin can actually cause inflammation and make your skin even drier. Stick to what you know works for your skin, but during the winter season, it’s best to exfoliate with care and caution.
All About the Body
Skincare isn’t just about the face, the rest of your body needs some love, too. The same time and care you put into your face should also include maintenance of the rest of your body. This means more moisturizing to avoid dry elbows and knees, so you’ll definitely want to stock up on all your favorite lotions this season.
Keep Your Lips Kissable
Nothing is worse than dry, cracked lips. While this winter symptom can often feel unavoidable, keeping a lip balm with you at all times is a simple solution to this problem. If you’re like me, and lose lip balms every five minutes, keeping more than one balm in places like your purse, car, and on your nightstand will ensure your lips never go too long without some attention.
Mask On
One of my favorite ways to keep the skin full of life during the Winter is to use hydrating face masks a couple of times per week. Whether you prefer sheet masks or cream-based masks, your skin will thank you in the long run, so sit back, grab a blanket and some tea, turn on your favorite TV show, and mask away!
