4 Fall Skincare Essentials
By: Nora Martinez
Unfortunately, hot girl summer has come to an end. Instagram feeds are full of pumpkin patches, and the winds are getting chiller. With this cold wind, it’s time to start thinking about your skin. The summer sun might be gone, but your skin needs to stay protected now more than ever.
Upgrade your moisturizer
You should already be wearing a moisturizer on your skin all year round. The fall time is no exception! The cold outdoor winds and dry indoor heat can leave your skin feeling like a desert. All that dryness can cause your skin to lose moisture and make it look dull. Start by switching your oil-free moisturizers to thicker moisturizers. It’s recommended to look for lotions with ceramides, a lipid that will act as a barrier and keep the moisture in.
Stick to your sunscreen
One mistake to avoid is not wearing your sunscreen during the fall. People have the misconception that because there is no sun, you don’t need sunscreen. During the fall, there are UVA rays present that can cause damage to your skin – like aging and fine lines. Look for hydrating sunscreens that have at least SPF 30 and offer broad-spectrum, which includes UVA and UVB protection.
Vitamin C
Just because fall days can be gloomy doesn’t mean your skin has to be too. Keep your skin looking fresh with a little help from vitamin c serums. This will leave your skin looking brighter and protect your skin from SPF rays as well. Before purchasing serums with vitamin c, be sure to look at the concentration. If you have sensitive skin, look for low levels.
Hydrating Masks

You’ll want to prevent your skin from drying out with the harsh outdoor winds and dry indoor air. Switching to a thicker moisturizer won’t be enough; you’ll need hydrating face masks. They can help replenish the nutrients back into your skin and keep it from feeling dry. When shopping for masks, look for some that have ceramides and hyaluronic acids.
