3 Unconventional European Destinations
By: Millija Laszkiewicz
2018 is your year of learning, progressing, and experiencing new things. What better way to do so than through traveling? Below are three destinations that you may not have heard of, but definitely should know about. Away from the hoards of tourists and selfies lay three distinctly different European destinations that will open your eyes to a new way of vacationing.
Aarhus, Denmark

Being the second-largest city in Denmark, Aarhus is well known in Scandinavia, but outside of the Nordic world, we seem to have forgotten about this charming city. This makes it the perfect destination for someone who wants all the Scandinavian style and chicness of Copenhagen, but also wants a destination that’s a little bit unusual. Don’t miss the ARoS Aarhus Art Museum, the Dome of Visions, and the Aarhus Cathedral.
The Isle of Man, Great Britain

Home to the world-famous annual TT motorcycle race, the Isle of Man has been almost forgotten as a beautiful destination not only to ride motorcycles but also to spend a long weekend. Its placement in the Irish Sea gives the whole Island a feeling of freedom and nature, and the minuscule population of fewer than 84,000 inhabitants allows for an authentic visit amongst the locals. Don’t miss Peel Castle and the Sky High Film Mount Snaefell.
Poznań, Poland

This charming city lies in west-central Poland and is one of the oldest and largest cities in the country, however, it is far from the beautiful but tourist-filled Warsaw. What better place to sample pierogi and sauerkraut than at its home? Don’t miss the Museum of Musical Instruments, Palmiarnia Poznanska (one of the oldest greenhouses in Europe, and the biggest in Poland), and the Croissant Museum.
All three of these fantastic destinations are off the beaten track and each has its own authentic charm, perfect for adding to your bucket list! Allow yourself to be drawn in by the winding streets, traditional foods, fresh air, and new experiences, and take inspiration for more exciting travels off the beaten track.
